I thought I would start the week with a new blog post about one of my favourite new independent fashion friends. I recently met my now friend, Courtney, at work a few weeks ago and was so excited to hear she has her own fashion brand- Genki- a streetwear brand that specialises in menswear.
A little info on Genki:
Genki launched its first collection in the winter of 2017 as a streetwear brand taking inspiration from high-end fashion brands such as Maharishi, Comme des Garcons and streetwear brands like MKI and Supreme. The brand is designed to be prominently menswear as Courtney believes males are more likely to purchase independent brands and fashion labels. She also likes the idea of blurring the lines between male and female fashion with over-sized products replacing fitted clothes. Furthermore, Courtney wanted to create something affordable but also good quality, as streetwear can often be of a very high price. Genki has its own website which is is also used as a platform for up and coming fashion designers and brands in order to sell and advertise numerous brands from around the globe. And finally, incase you were wondering, like I was, the idea of the name of Genki came from the story of Yamato Tamooka- a man who went missing in Japan for a week and once he was found in the woods he was described as ‘Genki’ meaning healthy.
Genki is a super fashion-forward brand but also has its own stamp on it. Now a brand that is technically based in Glasgow, I think it is one that fits in so well with the very cool, relaxed vibe that Glasgow has.
As you can see I got the pleasure of being gifted a Genki hoodie and I’m obsessed with it! The colour is so cute, and ever though its from the menswear line, its perfect for females too! Having had at the line I already have my eye on a couple of hoodies, and don’t even get me started on the kids wear!
If you want to have a look at the website (wouldn’t blame you) here is a link and the Instagram page which is also very cool is @genki_lifestyle.
I’ve also linked some of my favourites below incase you want to shop them straight away!
Anyone who knows me will know I love a handbag- I have too many for my own good and still continue to buy more! With Christmas coming up I thought I would share some of my favourite handbags that I have my eye on incase you want to treat yourself or someone else!
So if you’re like me and follow fashion carefully, you will see an array of fashion items made by top designers with unbelievably high price tags (or should I say overpriced price tags). Don’t get me wrong, I would love all these overpriced pieces, but unfortunately my bank account doesn’t agree. I love when I am able to find high street ‘dupes’ of the more expensive, luxury brands so I thought I would share some of my cheaper alternatives to a few luxury classics.
Happy shopping (and saving)!
As much as I hate the cold, I love Autumn and Winter- especially from a fashion perspective. I adore being able to wrap up in big cosy coats and accessorising with knitwear and I think this season is just my favourite time for clothing in general. The one thing I love especially about autumn/winter is wearing boots, so I thought I would share some of my favourite boots with you all!

So its that time of year again… fashion month! New York, London, Milan and Paris’ biggest designers show the world what they have in line for Spring/Summer and it is definitely one of my favourite times of the year. I thought I would share some of my favourite runway looks from the whole month, just incase you haven’t had a chance to catch up yet!

So as you all may have seen from my Instagram, I have been receiving some skin treatments at Therapie Clinic in Dundee. Therapie Clinic is Europes No.1 Laser and Skin Clinic, so when I heard they were opening up in the Overgate and wanted to collaborate, I couldn’t wait!
I was given the choice to choose a treatment that interested me but there was so much choice! From laser hair removal to cosmetic injections, they really offer everything, however I was really interested in what skin treatments they had to offer, so I decided to go with that. I was given an appointment for an initial consultation, where I would have my skin looked at by a specialist and then would be recommended treatments according to how my skin looks.
I arrived at my appointment to be greeted by the friendliest faces and the most gorgeous interior- there is nothing better than arriving at a salon/clinic and feeling like you are at a spa! My appointment was with a lovely lady called Justine, who really looked after me. She had a good look at my skin and let me know exactly what kind of treatment it needed. I have minor acne (its a lot better than it used to be), and quite oily and congested skin. I was recommended a set of 3 skin peels, so thats exactly what I did!
I arrived back at the clinic a few weeks later at my first appointment for an ormedic skin peel. When you hear the phrase ‘skin peel’ it can be quite daunting as my first thought was “is all my skin going to peel off?!”, but I was reassured that was not the case- there would only be very minor peeling! Therapie Clinic use Image Skincare, which feels really nice on your skin and also smells delicious! The ormedic skin peel is targeted at congested skin, which was perfect for me. The peel involved brushing the liquid onto the skin in layers. The products give a slight tingling sensation which means that it is activating and getting to work, clearing out the skin. Justine helped me understand this with a ‘pacman’ analogy, as if the treatment is getting to work eating away at all the dead cells and blocked pores. I left with my skin feeling noticeably less congested and more glowy! What’s more is that there was only a very minor breakout afterwards, despite expecting a much bigger one!
I then returned a few weeks later for my signature peel. This is a vitamin c, enzyme based peel which is great for exfoliation. Again, it was perfect for my congested skin, and I really felt it tingling away and working. I was told that this kind of enzyme peel is great for collagen production, which makes the skin look brighter and plumper- like you’ve had a 10 hour sleep!
I got this signature peel again two weeks later and the results are fab. My skin has a lot less bumps and looks less clogged up. I have fewer blackheads and spots and my skin just has this permanent glow and healthy look. My family and even my boyfriend have noticed a difference and I couldn’t be happier. This is something I will definitely be looking into doing more in the future as it has really given me more confidence in my skin and perhaps helped find a way to resolve my current skin issues.
If you are in Dundee, I couldn’t recommend Therapie Clinic enough. The knowledge that the people have there is amazing- I couldn’t believe how knowledgeable Justine was- and I felt really comfortable throughout every treatment. Therapie Clinic also have clinics in Glasgow and Edinburgh too with lots of treatments (I’ve linked a list here).
Thank you so much to Therapie Clinic for the most amazing experience and beautiful skin!
So as usual we are starting to see some new trends appear on the high street and online and I couldn’t be more excited about it… especially when these trends involve both leopard print AND polka dots- my two loves.
For the past few years my wardrobe has consisted of many polka dot and leopard print pieces so I couldn’t be more excited about the fact that I havean excuse to wear them and go a bit OTT.
Leopard print has always been an eye catcher for me. Even when a it had a bit of a ‘cheap’ stigma attached to it few years ago, I still couldn’t resist. I think its such a fun pattern to add to any outfit, whether it a little leopard print heel or a full on maxi dress, you can’t go wrong! I have attached some of my favourite pieces right now with links if you fancy a little shop…
Next up are the polka dots. You will probably see from my Instagram that I love to wear polka dots- I just think they are so cute! Here are some of my fave polka dot pieces right now…
And my favourite trend of all? Mixing the two patterns together! Drrreeeamy
