The Little Black Pinafore Dress

Hey guys! I hope you are all having a fab summer!

With Scotland only getting a few days of sunshine, I’m finding myself not being able to wear very summery clothes or dresses this year. However, I thought I would try something new this summer and buy myself a pinny dress.

I won’t lie- I used to really dislike these kind of dresses, but with them coming back into style recently, I have seen a few designs I really like. I much prefer black pinafore dresses as you can wear a lot more with them, and they can be worn in the summer or winter.

I saw this dress in New Look and had to have it! It was only £15 so it’s a bargain as well!

With pinny dresses, I personally think a top with quite a high neck should be worn underneath- not necessarily as high as I am wearing in these photos, but to counteract the deep v neck of the pinny, I would raise the neckline of the top underneath. I wore my Topshop crop top I got last summer in the sale.

IMG_2272 (1).jpg

I accessorised with my favourite Love Moschino bag and little black ballet pumps. I think flat shoes should be worn with pinafores- as they are quite cute little dresses- so to continue the cutsie look, a little pair of ballet pumps work well.

I finished off the outfit with my Zara light blue jacket. I am just obsessed with it! They also do a cute light pink version as well as a mustard yellow and burgundy one so definitely check them out!

I’ve added some links to some pinny dresses I really like below, as well as items to accessorise with.

I hope you enjoyed reading and have a fabulous week!

Fashion, Lifestyle

Hey guys!

I apologise for being out of the blogging game for a while- I’ve been crazy busy working this summer!

I have been working in a coffee shop most days this summer, so I couldn’t wait to get away to Spain for a week. My sister, mum and I went on a trip to Murcia, Spain where my family has a villa (If you want to read about Murcia, I wrote a little about it in my previous blog ‘Spain Diaries’). I couldn’t wait to wear all my new fashion finds whilst on holiday, and whilst I shared most of my outfits on my Instagram, I thought I would share them in more detail with you guys! I hope you enjoy…

Day Outfits

ASOS white dress (Similar here). I was loving an ‘All White’ theme during my holiday and there is nothing better than a Little White Dress!

I added this gorgeous Massimo Dutti blazer (similar here) my boyfriend got me for my birthday. I love adding a pop of colour to an outfit and this red colour is so eye catching!

I carried on the all white theme with this outfit. The top and shorts are from Primark and the shirt is from ASOS.

It was far too hot during the day to wear much clothing so I basically lived in my bikinis. I like to keep it simple when it comes to swimwear.

Bikini top- Forever 2

River Island bikini top (Similar here)

I am loving simple black swimsuits like this ASOS one. I love how the front is scooped and the back has a T back detail. The best part about swimsuits is that you can eat as much ice cream and junk food on holiday and be able to hide that food baby!

Evening outfits

I love this off the shoulder New Look dress I got for just £4!

I got this brown skirt above and the yellow skirt below in the River Island sale. I love A-line skirts as I really think they are flattering on all body types as they pull in at the waist and just skim the hips. If there is one sale I recommend to check out this summer, its River Islands! There are so many steals on offer!

I am really loving layering chokers and longer necklaces together, especially delicate gold ones!

This Zara dress is everything! Its sparkly and bold, and definitely ideal for a night out!

I hope you enjoyed reading and are having a fab summer!

Lots of love,

My Mallzee Experience

Fashion, Lifestyle

Happy Monday!

This weeks a bit different as I won’t be talking about any new trends but I will be telling you guys about my exciting week interning at Mallzee.

For those of you who have never heard of Mallzee- its the most amazing app you can download that is basically tinder for fashion. There are over 150 brands on this app and you can swipe through lots of different brands of clothing, shoes and accessories to save you looking on individual websites. You can use filters such as product, size and brand filters to find exactly what you are looking for! In addition to that it notifies you when sales are on and there is a homepage filled with sections for new trends! If you haven’t got the app already definitely give it a go- you won’t be disappointed!

During my week at Mallzee I was working with the Marketing team and I had such an amazing time. I got to learn how the app works and how its marketed. I got to sit in on a marketing meeting and learned lots and I also got to see how each persons role at Mallzee works which was really interesting! As I want to work in fashion after I graduate, this was the perfect way to get a taste of the industry I hope to find myself in in a few years.

In addition, everyone working there were so friendly and made me feel so welcome! The glass of prosecco to end the week with the team was definitely one of the highlights.

The office was also very cool- one of my favourite rooms was the jungle room. It had bright vibrant colours and an amazing view over Edinburgh, Scotland- where the company is based.

A really exciting thing I got to do was look through all the products on the app and add them to the “staff picks” segment on the home page. I had so much fun looking through everything- if only I could afford them all! If you want to check them out they are on the home page of the app under “Rachael’s Picks”.

In the exclusive newsletter!

Again you guys need to get this app! It will you save so much time and it is the best way to find the outfit you are looking for.

Have a great week!

Off the shoulder loving

Hey guys!

If you are in Scotland like me, I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather! Now it’s summer there are lots of trends to try out and one of my favourite ones is the off the shoulder trend. If you have been shopping recently you may have noticed that most high street stores are filled with off the shoulder tops and dresses! I think this trend is a  great way of showing off a little more skin this summer (which is good for this hot weather!). I also cannot get over how cute it looks too- I just can’t get enough and I am having to refrain from buying too many versions of this trend!

As you may have seen from my London blog, I bought this really cute New Look top to wear.

Another great thing about off the shoulder tops is that you have the whole neck free to accessorise- so statement necklaces and chokers can work brilliantly with the outfit.

This weekend I headed out in my ASOS off the shoulder dress. I am not one to go that colourful, but I love this bright red colour. I added a red lip to really let it pop. This dress comes in a few other colours (the black one caught my eye too) so definitely check them out.

Here are some other versions of this trend you guys may be interested in:

London town

Hey guys!

So I have been out of the blogging game for a bit due to exams and being super busy but I’m back and cannot wait to share lots of exciting adventures I have going on this summer.

As you may have seen on my Instagram I was just in London for a long weekend. My boyfriend is a cyclist so we headed down for a race of his and spent some time sightseeing and shopping.

We were staying right in the centre of London in the most amazing location with Big Ben and the London Eye just a stones throw away- it was gorgeous!

On Saturday we spent the morning and a bit of the afternoon exploring and touristing in Covent Gardens. I couldn’t wait to bring out a bit of an edgier side of my wardrobe when coming to London as with it being such a fashionable capital, I felt I could switch it up a little.

Here I am wearing a New Look skirt, Zara tee (similar here),a Topshop biker jacket, New Look slipper shoes (similar here) and my Moschino bag. I accessorised with a New Look choker (similar here). I love graphic tees and chokers together. I think they add an edge to an outfit and work so well!

That evening we went to the Lee Valley Velodrome and I had a fun few hours enjoying the racing.

On Sunday it was shopping day and I could not have been more excited! We made our way to Oxford Street where I was overwhelmed by the massive Topshop store and all the amazing high street stores like H and M. We then walked down to Bond Street, where there were shops like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel, D&G and lots more amazing designer shops. Louis Vuitton was so gorgeous with the most amazing leather dresses and shoes that I wish I was able to afford! Most importantly we stopped off at Victoria’s Secret. I am a self confessed VS addict- I just can’t get enough of it, so I was like an over excited child when I got to the store! I will share on my Instagram the amazing bright and summery underwear I got soon!

Delicious macaroons at Laduree.

More macaroons- I’m obsessed!

In VS heaven!

On Sunday I embraced the off the shoulder trend in this New Look top and Topshop ripped jeans. If you are looking for a new top this summer- definitely invest in a top like this! They are so summery and really in style right now so are in every high street shop.

If you are heading to London I would definitely recommend Bond Street and Oxford street for some shopping- you won’t be disappointed!

The shirt dress

Hey guys!

I have been crazy busy the last week or so with revision, so it was really nice to have a more relaxed Saturday off revision so I could get dressed up and forget about the library for a bit.

I bought this super cute checked shirt dress from Topshop this week. I love shirt dresses as they are so versatile- they can be dressed up or dressed down. I wore the dress casually throughout the day by just pairing it with some simple black pumps from New Look (similar here) and added my Ted Baker chain black bag (similar here).

For the evening time I dressed the outfit up by simply adding a skinny belt from New Look and adding these Forever 21 heels. I got them for just £14 in the Glasgow Shop so they were an absolute steal!

I have found some other shirt dresses I like and added the links below!

Have a great week!

My skincare routine

Hey guys!

I have struggled with my skin since a young age. I battled rather horrible acne when I was younger, and also deal with very oily, sensitive, porous skin on a daily base. I still get spots and have found it very hard to get my skin healthy. However I feel I am slowly learning ways to deal with my very temperamental skin so I thought I would share my new skincare routine. Firstly I want to talk about diet. In the last few months I have really started to look after my diet and eat more healthily. I drink lots of water with cucumber and lemon and I eat lots of fruit and vegetables everyday. I have really noticed that since I have become healthier, I am experiencing a lot fewer break outs!

To take my make up off I use Botanics micellar water. I used to take my make up off with cheap make up wipes, which was one of the worst things I could have done as I have such sensitive skin. I recently read that some make up wipes have a very acidic pH and they shouldn’t be used to take off make up so since reading that I ditched the wipes and found an alternative. This micellar water smells amazing and it also cleanses the skins as well as removing make up so it works a treat!

Cleanser is a must when it comes to have healthy skin. My favourite cleaner is this L’Occitane Angelica Cleansing Gel. Cleansing twice a day is a good start to looking after your skin properly. A tip I have for remembering to cleanse in the morning is to have a cleanser in your shower so that when you shower in the morning you can quickly wash your face at the same time. This cleansing gel leaves my skin so soft and glowing. It has also helped contain my breakouts as it’s not too aggressive.

After cleansing I use this Good Things deep pore toner. Having very large pores on my face is not a great look, so I try and find products that clean my pores out and tighten them at the same time. This toner does just the job and it also smells divine!

Exfoliation is a must! Using a scrub twice a week means that any impurities and dry skin cells can be brushed away and your skin will look a lot fresher. This Nip Fab Glycolic Fix Scrub is a winner and I could not recommend it enough.

Another product I use to battle my porous skin is this No7 Deep pore purifier. It’s a cleansing gel that comes with an applicator. Use it twice a week to deeply clean and tighten pores.

I am a self confessed face mask addict. I love trying out lots of different brands and seeing how well they work on my skin. One of my favourite face masks is this L’Occitane instant hydration mask. I love this one as you only keep it on for 2 minutes and then when you take it off, your skin is left feeling so soft for days!

Moisturising is also really important for good skin. I would recommend not settling for a cheap moisturiser and spending that little bit more as you often find cheap moisturisers dry out skin or promote excess oil production. This dermalogica active moist one is great for people with oily, combination skin like mine.

Finally, tackling breakouts can be a pain. However I have found this Dermalogica overnight clearing gel does exactly what is says on the tin. If you feel a breakout coming on, just apply a small amount to the skin overnight and it works like magic so the next day your skin is already looking better! If you are able to invest, I recommend it highly!

I hope you enjoyed reading and I have helped a few people who have similar skin problems!

Spain Diaries

Hey guys!

I’m just back from an amazing few days in Murcia, Spain, with my family. For those who are looking to book a holiday for summer I couldn’t recommend Murcia enough. It is located in the south-east of Spain on the coast so there are plenty of beaches! Its great for families with lots of waterparks and sightseeing available and its also ideal for students as there is a university in Murcia, so there are lots of student bars and clubs. Murcia is also the driest place in Spain so there is very little rain and its nice and hot- ideal for sunbathing!

I was only there for four days due to university commitments so it meant I had a lot of fashion to squeeze into a few days.

When it comes to going on holiday to a hot country, swimwear is a necessity. I recently bought this fabulous scooped back swimsuit from Forever 21 for only £11! Scooped back one pieces are so in style right now- so this one is a great way to get the look at a cheap price.

I am currently going through a phase of mixing and matching my bikinis right now. It’s got a bit to do with laziness, but I think if its done right- a mix and match bikini can look great! If you are going to do this with a bikini try and find colours that will go with each other- for example a white bikini top and black bikini bottoms, or a pink bikini top and orange bikini bottoms. Here I put a white Forever 21 bikini top for £3.50 together with black bikini bottoms also from Forever 21 at £3.50. Forever 21 is a great place to get fashionable swimwear at reasonable prices!

On the second day of my trip I went out with my sister during the day and wore this outfit. IMG_9182

It was a very warm day so I wanted to wear light colours and I didn’t want to wear too much clothing. I had on this khaki green crop top from ASOS (only available in white now) paired with cream high waisted shorts from Forever 21. I added a pair of cute snake print heeled sandals from Office and finished off the outfit with a little Louis Vuitton body bag (stolen from my mum). I bought these Office shoes last year, but they have a similar pair in stock here- Office block heels.

The next day I finally got to wear this really pretty playsuit that I got from my boyfriend for my birthday last year (he’s got good taste)!

This playsuit is from MinkPink. If you are going on holiday, I think the more floral the outfit the better!

When it came to evening wear I got put on one of my favourite dresses from Massimo Dutti. I recently checked out the new Massimo Dutti flagship store in Glasgow, located on Buchanan Street. It’s such a beautiful shop with so many gorgeous pieces I have my eye on for summer. If you are in Glasgow definitely have a look!

I added my Louis Vuitton handbag and office sandals to finish off the outfit.

On the last night of my holiday it was time to pull out my Forever 21 heeled boots. I bought these boots last year and have been obsessed with them since. I paired them with a River Island skirt (only available in yellow now) and Pretty Little Thing bodysuit.

Finally I got to wear my Missoni sunglasses I bought last year. I love big sunglasses as they are real face shapers. I bought these sunglasses from TK Maxx as I got them for about half of the retail price, so if you are looking for designer glasses, definitely take a look in TK Maxx.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my holiday style!

Have a fab week.

With love, Rachael x

Underwear as outwear

Happy weekend and first day of spring!

Now that its spring, its nearly crop top weather (my favourite kind of weather), so out came my Calvin Klein bra top this weekend. ‘Underwear as outwear’ is a new trend right now, and this outfit is a less risqué way of doing it.

I am obsessed with Calvin Klein – their underwear is so comfortable and fashionable and this bra top is my favourite.

I paired the top with black New Look jeans. I could not recommend these jeans enough. They are only £20 and really good quality! I have washed them quite a few times and the colour hasn’t faded at all.

I added some height with my New Look black pointed heels, to make the outfit a bit more dressed up. At just £15 these shoes are a steal.

I tied a black checked boyfriend shirt around my waist. Boyfriend shirts never go out of style and can be worn in so many ways – buttoned up, buttoned down or around the waist.

Finally, I wore my new favourite sunglasses from New Look. The cat-eye style is really flattering for a rounder face like mine. These sunglasses are also really cheap; they are just £4.50! And I think you will agree that they look far more expensive than that.

I have added links to my outfit below.

Thank you for reading and have a fab week!

Love R xx

Leather details

Hey guys!

I hope you are all having a fab weekend.

As I mentioned in my last post, I am obsessed with leather, so I recently bought a pair of leather detailed leggings that I have styled two different ways. These leggings are from ASOS and are only £18; so they are not too pricey- and remember that students get a 10% discount too! They are super comfy and can be worn dressed up or dressed down.

I firstly dressed up the leggings with a cute floral crop top from Topshop. This pattern is very spring/summer and is so pretty! I paired the outfit with some nude heels from New Look and matched them with a nude leather jacket. Leather on leather works really well, and makes for a very cool ensemble. I then finished the outfit off with my Louis Vuitton clutch bag. This bag actually came attached to my bigger Neverfull Louis Vuitton bag; which I will show you guys in a later post.

A blouse goes really well with these leggings too. This can create a much more casual look- just swap the heels for some flats, add a bigger bag and you’re ready to go!

I got this blouse from New Look and its one of my favourite new pieces! It is such a classy blouse and can be worn in so many ways. Its also really flowy and comfortable!

A couple of the items mentioned were bought a while ago so I will add some links to some lookalikes that are currently in shops!

By the way, Unidays is a website that gives you amazing discounts in places like ASOS, Topshop and New look. So my biggest tip of the week is to sign up with the link below, I promise you won’t regret it!
